Dr. Gurkirat Brar is a dedicated family medicine physician practicing at HealthPoint in Western Washington. Originally from the Bay Area, California, Dr. Brar moved to Puyallup, WA, during his youth and graduated from Rogers High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology, which ignited his passion for chronic disease prevention through lifestyle modifications.
Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Brar furthered his research experience as an assistant in the Zraika Lab, focusing on the role of neprilysin in insulin resistance. He completed his medical degree at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, WA. During his time in medical school, Dr. Brar also embraced his love for soccer by playing semi-professionally with Yakima United in the EPLWA.
Dr. Brar completed his Family Medicine Residency at The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education at HealthPoint in Auburn, WA. It was during his residency that he recognized systemic challenges within our healthcare system and began formulating plans to address them. Currently, he serves as a community health physician and an associate faculty member at HealthPoint, mentoring medical residents.
To further enhance his skills, Dr. Brar is pursuing additional training in sports medicine, aiming to expand his expertise in musculoskeletal and procedural medicine to help patients achieve optimal performance. He currently volunteers as the primary care physician for the Seattle Seawolves, the premier professional Major League Rugby team in the Northwest.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Brar is an avid sportsman and athlete, participating in soccer, handball, tennis, volleyball, paddleboarding, and snowboarding. His interests extend to designing and building loudspeakers and working on his 90s BMW.
Dr. Brar’s diverse interests and commitment to medicine reflect his approach to healthcare, emphasizing both physical activity and innovative medical practices to promote overall well-being.
